N & J Mawson of Oldham are using traditional stone bottles with a clip-lock stopper to emphasise the heritage of their Sarsaparilla cordial. The stoppers are protected by transparent Viskrings, supplied by viscose.closures of Crawley, to provide tamper evidence.
Sarsaparilla dates back to 1933 and is a refreshingly original cordial, made from a combination of herbs including liquorice, ginger and sarsaparilla bark. It can be purchased in over 300 health stores throughout the UK.
Viskrings are made from cellulose and are biodegradable. They are stored in a preservative solution and on application they dry naturally at ambient temperatures and shrink as they do so. No machinery or shrink tunnel is therefore needed.
"We used to use paper seals for tamper-evidence" said Nigel Mawson, MD at N & J Mawson, "But they were often damaged in transit, whilst Viskrings are incredibly strong and can be applied to the bottles really easily."
